Our Standard Studio Apartments at Avon Way House are perfect for students that enjoy their space. Each studio apartment room has a small double bed, study space and a wardrobe and shelving for storage. Studio apartments also come with a range of cooking facilities, including a hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. The en-suite comes fully equipped with a shower, sink and toilet.
There is also a communal kitchen available within your block, which is perfect for socialising and getting to know fellow housemates.
Free Glide Wifi is available throughout the apartment and Avon Way House as a whole, offering speeds up to 10mbps. You can upgrade your Wi-fi connection for a small fee. Contact hospitality services phone, email or contact form if you wish to upgrade.
Facilities
The Hub is based within Avon Way House, and provides a number of ways that students can relax, study and socialise.
Students can enjoy food and snacks throughout the day and night at the Student Cafe and vending machines.
Entertainment is fully catered for, with a cinema room, a pool room, a games room and more available.
Studying options are available also, with shared and quiet study spaces available alongside a meeting room, which is perfect for practising presentations.
There is also a common gym/studio space available to all tenants, which provides ample room for exercise and group activities like yoga.
Please be sure to book in advance for the pool room, meeting room and gym/studio space. These rooms are used frequently, so making sure they are available is a must.
Avon Way House’s on-site hospitality and maintenance teams are also available to provide support and fix issues. They work hard to create a peaceful atmosphere where tenants feel comfortable approaching them with problems, so please feel free to speak to them when you need.
Avon Way grounds and outdoor amenities
Enjoy Free Parking at Avon Way House, although please be aware that parking spaces are available on a first-come first-served basis, so grabbing a space early is recommended.
You will also find on-site laundry facilities and secure bike storage in the Avon Way grounds, alongside outdoor study spaces and a landscaped garden.
CCTV Security Cameras are also placed around the Avon Way grounds, to maintain the safety of staff, students and visitors.
Getting around Colchester
Avon Way House was built to offer quick and easy access to the University of Essex. Walking to Campus takes approximately 15 minutes, and if you have a bike, it can take only 5 minutes. Residents can also use the local buses, with a bus stop located just outside of Avon Way House and take a ride up to the University, to the local supermarket or the city centre. S4, S4a and No.1.

Are bills included?
You will make a one-off payment of £295.00 when you sign up to your Avon Way House room. This one-off payment will cover your utility bills for the extent of your contract.
What if no Standard Studio apartments are available?
If no Standard Studio apartments are available, consider looking into our Townhouse Studio Apartments, Large Studio Apartments and Countryside View Studio Apartments. Each offer similar amenities, and can provide the same experience as a Standard Studio apartment.
What if I want to be around more friends or housemates?
If you decide that a Studio Apartment isn’t right for you, consider looking into our 2-bed, 3-bed, 4-bed, 5-bed and 6-bedroom apartments. Each of these are sharing apartments, meaning you’ll be sharing a corridor and communal space with more people. Perfect for making new friends!
