Full description
Our Large Studio Apartments were built to provide a larger floor space while still providing similar amenities to those found in our other Studio Apartments. There is a lot of storage space to be found in this apartment, alongside an open study area and small double bed. A microwave oven and hob is available also, with an under counter fridge/freezer. You will also find an en-suite bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet.
Enjoy relaxing in the communal kitchen area, where you and your housemates can come together and socialise, cook, and watch television.
Avon Way House also has Free Glide WiFi, which has speeds of up to 10mbps over 5 devices. If you require a faster connection or access to more devices, reach out to our hospitality team through our contact form, email, or phone. They may be able to assist you by upgrading your WiFi for a small fee.
Facilities
Visit the Avon Way House Student Hub for an easy, on-site spot to relax with friends.
While in the Student Hub, enjoy the range of amenities and entertainment available. These include a games room, american pool room, and cinema room all available at any time of day.
Food is also readily available, with a Student Cafe in the Hub alongside vending machines. Perfect for recouping some energy after a long day of studying!
Group and quiet study spaces are available to all tenants staying at Avon Way House, helping you to get on with coursework and presentations alike. There is also a meeting room available, which is perfect for group sessions without distractions.
Take some time to exercise at the gym/studio at the Student Hub. This space is perfect for everything from individual workouts to dance, yoga and pilates practice with housemates.
When you wish to use the Cinema Room, Pool Room, Meeting Room, or the Gym/Studio, make sure to do so through our Facility Bookings page. This will prevent any clashing of times, and helps you to make the most of the space.
The on-site hospitality and maintenance teams at Avon Way House are readily available to help you during your stay. Make sure to pay them a visit if you have any questions, or if you experience issues with appliances or anything else around the property.
Outdoor area
Our aim is to ensure that all students have a stress-free time at Avon Way House, as such, our outdoor amenities are designed for your convenience and to help you unwind.
The landscaped garden at Avon Way House is perfect for de-stressing after a long day of study, and in the summer it’s a great place to relax with your new friends.
Across the Avon Way site, cashless washing facilities are available. Paying for your wash is simple, all you need to do is scan the QR code through the app.
Secure bike racks are available on the Avon Way Grounds, so you can nip over to the University of Essex campus, or take a leisurely weekend bike ride.
Car Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you are planning to bring a vehicle make sure to grab your space early. If you would like more information on parking, please contact a member of the team today.
Please be aware of CCTV security cameras based around the Avon Way grounds. These are in place to ensure the safety of everyone on the site, at all hours of the day.
Transportation links available
Travelling back and forth to Central Colchester and the University of Essex Campus is easy from Avon Way House.
If you prefer to walk, it only takes 15-minutes to get to the campus! If you have a bike though, you can be there in 5-minutes flat.
Regular buses are also available from the same bus stop just across the street. They can take you anywhere you need to go in Colchester.
FAQS
How do utility bills work?
When you sign a contract with Avon Way House, you are required to pay a one-off utility bill payment of £295.00. This payment will cover the extent of your contract, meaning you won’t fall victim to fluctuating energy prices.
Are there alternatives if none of the Large Studio Apartments are available?
There are a range of studio apartments available outside of the Large Studio Apartments, in the circumstance that none are available. You may also be interested in our Standard Studio Apartments, Townhouse Studio Apartments and Countryside View Studio Apartments, all of which provide a fantastic living experience.
Are sharing options available?
While our studio apartments are built to house a single student, we do offer shared 2-bed, 3-bed, 4-bed, 5-bed and 6-bed apartments. Each of these apartments has a separate room for each tenant, and a shared kitchen and lounge area.
